Insurgent Book Review by Sanjay

*Spoiler Alert*

The second book of the Divergent series; Insurgent by Veronica Roth is my favorite book in the series.  I am still reading the last book Allegiant, but I have enjoyed Insurgent the most so far.  There are many things I like about the book ranging from action and plot.  My favorite thing about this book is the character development.

When I mean character development, I mean being introduced to new characters like Evelyn Johnson.  You learn that she is Tobias’ mother and Marcus Eaton’s ex-wife and that brings out a lot of back story between that family.  That also leads more issues between Tobias and his father which was introduced in the first book.  Then you learn more about Tris and how being Divergent affects how she acts and makes decisions.  You also learn about how Christina is doing after Will’s death which starts tension between Tris and her when Christina learns how he died.  And then you meet Cara which makes things even more interesting.  Tori Wu is not in the beginning of the book, but she is in it later.  Then you learn about the history between her and Jeanine because of Tori’s brother’s death.  And at the end of the book, you meet Edith Prior which leaves you at a cliff hanger.  There is even more to talk about.

The character development in this story is fabulous and it is a great build-on from the first book.  I could go on and on about what happens.  Overall, what I explained is only a little bit of the reason why this is a great book.
